G10 Fiberglass Laminate Machining for Custom Parts

We review CNC machining requests for custom G10 fiberglass laminate insulating parts, supports, and structural components. Send us your material standard, drawing, thickness, and quantity, and we will assess process fit, machining safety, and quotation requirements before we commit to a quote.

Custom G10 fiberglass laminate machined component

Start with the material specification

“G10” alone does not identify every requirement for a production order. Grades, laminate construction, thickness, and required properties vary by specification and supplier, so I ask every customer to define these before we discuss price or lead time.

If your design calls for G10 specifically, or for another laminate such as FR-4, please say so. We do not treat these materials as interchangeable. If material certificates or other compliance documents must accompany the order, tell us in the RFQ so we can review them before we proceed.

What we confirm up front

  • 01Material grade, supplier, and laminate construction
  • 02Whether the material form is suitable for our existing equipment
  • 03Required certificates and documentation
  • 04Safety conditions for dust control and handling

CNC processes we can assess

Our equipment inventory includes CNC machining centers across several axis configurations, along with CNC lathes, turn-mill machines, and Swiss-type lathes for other custom component work. A general machine inventory does not, by itself, confirm that every machine is suitable for composite machining, so I assess each job individually.

Three-axis
25
CNC machining centers for milling and drilling, assessed per part.
Four- and five-axis
9
One four-axis machining center and eight 5-axis CNC machines.
Turning
CNC
Lathes, turn-mill, and Swiss-type machines, considered only for suitable cylindrical forms.

For laminate work, I first check whether the part can be milled or drilled on available equipment under appropriate safety conditions. Turning is only considered after we confirm the material, setup, and process are appropriate.

How I review your G10 project

Each review follows the same sequence. Laminate direction, geometry, and edge conditions are checked before any process is confirmed, so concerns are raised at the drawing stage rather than discovered on the machine.

  1. 1

    Laminate direction and part geometry

Laminate construction affects edge condition and damage risk. Please mark critical faces, edges, holes, slots, and any area where layer orientation matters. I review feature locations and wall thicknesses, and I give particular attention to small holes near an edge, narrow webs, thin sections, and features that break through a surface.

  2. 2

    Edge quality and delamination risk

Functional edges and openings must remain usable after machining. State your requirements for burrs, chipping, exposed layers, and allowable surface damage, and mark any edge that is critical for assembly, insulation, or support.

  3. 3

    Dust control and handling

Machining fiber-reinforced laminate generates dust that can present a health risk. Before quoting, I assess the material form and the safety requirements for the operation, including dust-control measures, work practices, and protective equipment.

  4. 4

    Inspection and quotation

Once material, geometry, and safety conditions are confirmed, I define the inspection approach and documentation, then issue a production quotation.

Dust control is a condition of acceptance

I accept a project only when its machining and handling requirements can be addressed appropriately. If the required safeguards are not available, or the conditions are not suitable, I may decline the work rather than compromise on safety.

Please include with your inquiry

Any customer safety requirements, relevant material safety information, and handling constraints for the finished parts. This allows me to confirm whether dust-control measures and protective practices can be met before we quote.

Inspection and dimensional requirements

Our inspection resources include a coordinate measuring machine, optical measuring systems, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other dimensional gauges. I select the method according to part features and drawing requirements.

Please separate critical dimensions from reference dimensions, and specify tolerances, the datum scheme, and the inspection documentation you need. If you require a first-article report or material documentation, state it in the RFQ so I can confirm feasibility before order placement.

Our quality management systems are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100D, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949. Applicability depends on certification scope and project requirements, and these certifications do not replace a review of the specific material, process, or documentation requested.

Check whether your project is a fit

G10 machining may suit custom insulating plates, supports, spacers, brackets, and other drawing-defined components, provided the material specification, geometry, dimensional requirements, and safety conditions can be confirmed. If the design is still changing, send the current drawing and list the open decisions. I will identify the manufacturing questions to resolve before a production quotation.

Send the details needed for an RFQ

Please submit your material standard, drawing, thickness, and quantity. With these details I can confirm whether the material, machining scope, and safety conditions are suitable for quotation.

  1. A 2D drawing and, if available, a 3D model
  2. Material standard or grade and any required certificate
  3. Laminate thickness and any thickness tolerance
  4. Part quantity, expected repeat volume, and delivery requirements
  5. Critical dimensions, edge requirements, and inspection documentation
  6. Applicable safety or handling requirements
