Material machining

Tool Steel

At YJCNC, we machine custom tool steel components to customer drawings and project specifications. From design review through inspection, we work with you to align the machining approach with the selected grade, material condition, geometry, and intended application.

Built around your drawing

A considered process for demanding components

Tool steel grades and conditions can vary significantly. Sharing the material designation, target condition, critical dimensions, and inspection expectations helps establish the right plan for your part.

Drawing-led production

Machining planned around specified dimensions, tolerances, and technical requirements.

Project flexibility

Support for prototype development, repeat orders, and production runs, subject to review.

Machining approach

Tool steel CNC machining, guided by part requirements

Tool steels are selected for properties such as wear resistance, toughness, or performance at elevated temperatures. The best machining sequence depends on the specific grade, part geometry, material condition, and requirements after machining.

01 / Review

Understand the material and design

We review the supplied drawing and material details, including grade and condition where specified, to clarify critical features and project requirements.

02 / Plan

Select a suitable machining route

CNC milling, turning, or turn-mill machining may be considered according to the component’s form and features. Process details are confirmed during project review.

03 / Verify

Check drawing-defined requirements

Inspection planning is aligned with the agreed specifications. Available resources include coordinate measuring and optical systems, along with precision dimensional gauges.

Material selection

Start with the grade and condition on your print

Tool steel is a broad material family rather than a single specification. Grades such as D2, A2, O1, H13, S7, and P20 may be used for different applications; suitability depends on the design and required properties. These examples are not a statement of stock availability.

If the part requires heat treatment, a particular hardness, or machining in a defined material condition, include those details when requesting a quotation so the manufacturing requirements can be reviewed together.

Useful details to provide

  • —Part drawing and revision level
  • —Material grade and condition, if specified
  • —Critical dimensions and tolerance requirements
  • —Quantity, schedule, and repeat-order expectations

Components we can review

YJCNC works with customers on custom machined parts such as housings, brackets, shafts, bushings, sleeves, and other components. Feasibility and process selection are assessed against each project’s drawing and requirements.

Final tolerances, material condition, and inspection scope are confirmed during quotation and engineering review.
